IN THE IMAGE OF GOD
Genesis 1:26-27
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Yesterday, I talked about verse 26 and how only mankind is made in God’s own image.
And so, after creating everything we see on planet earth, the moon, the sun, the sky, the water, the plants, the fish, animals and so on; God made PEOPLE.
Then in verse 27 we learn more: “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
When people reject God, His existence, His reality, His TRUTHS, they end up coming up with many convoluted and baffling ideas about everything.
Today we are living in the strange times of “fluid sexual identities.” Some think that means they can change this from day to day, month to month or year to year. How they “feel” determines their sexual identity.
In some hospitals, when a mother delivers a baby, instead of the normal way of identifying his/her sexual identify, the hospital staff asks “What gender do you wish us to report?” Insane!
Teachers in some public schools are encouraging young elementary aged children to choose the gender with which they identify – or – would like to be.
This is of course, an abomination and an insult to Almighty God who “…created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
The TRUTH is that you ARE either born a male or a female and every molecule of your DNA is wired one way or the other. Period. No surgery or drug cocktail can change that.
Idaho became the first state in the country to pass a bill that said – regarding school sports – a student could only compete on the team based on his/her biological birth sex. Sounds logical and common sense, right? Yes! And another 30 states are considering the same, but the ACLU has gotten involved and so it’s bogged down in the courts.
Know this: When people start wanting to change what God has done, we are in serious trouble. When we start ignoring what God has said, we are in danger. Pray for more common sense and a returning of our nation to God.
Prayer: Lord, help me to always treat Your Words as the ultimate Truth. Help us – as a nation – to return to YOU. Help me to always look to YOU and Your Word as my “True North” and not to the latest fad, study or governmental agency. You alone are timeless and unchanging. You are God. I worship YOU. Amen.
