Day 20 | OUR STRONG TOWER
The POWER of 10
Day 20 | OUR STRONG TOWER
OUR STRONG TOWER
Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the Lord is like a strong tower.” (NIRV)
This is the only place in Proverbs where “the name of the LORD” is found.
Solomon knew the LORD, Yahweh, gave him a wonderfully strong defense. Just saying “in the name of the LORD” is not a magic charm or secret way to talk to God; it is a declaration of His power, character, person, plan, Word, and more.
When we say “In the name of the LORD,” we are declaring:
LORD, You are my God of infinite love, and I take refuge in Your love for me. LORD, You are my God of unending mercy, and I rejoice in Your compassion for me. LORD, You are my God of immeasurable strength, and I find comfort in Your strength for me. LORD, You are my God of righteousness, and I find shelter in Your righteousness.
The implication is that WE, God’s children, should always run to Him, who is a “STRONG TOWER” for us. In this “Strong Tower,” we are safe from even the sharpest arrows. Over time spent walking with the LORD, we come to realize that only with the LORD can we enjoy security from external troubles, thus leading us to praise Him and exercise our faith in Him every day.
The lyrics to a Sandi Patty song go:
"There is strength in the name of the Lord
There is power in the name of the Lord.
There is hope in the name of the Lord.
Blessed is He, who comes in the name of the Lord"
As God’s children, we have a special place in His heart, under His wing, and in His "Strong Tower." Never take that for granted but give the LORD the praise and thanksgiving that He deserves.
Prayer: I thank You, Lord, for being one of your children and for ALL that You have provided for me in this life and the next! Amen.
