Day  40 | WAITING AND TRUSTING
WAITING AND TRUSTING

Psalm 40:1-3
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.”
(NLT)

Have you ever considered that people are watching you?  You may or may not believe it, but unless you live like a hermit, someone is watching you.  It might be your children, or grands, or neighbors, or work colleagues… but someone (other than the LORD) is watching
.
We live in a broken, sinful world.  And because of that, bad things happen all the time to everybody.  That includes “good people,” Godly people, and even you. “The rain falls on the just and the unjust,” just as Jesus said in Matthew 5.

Waiting.  It’s not something most of us are good at.  And waiting patiently… well, good luck with that.  But here in Psalm 40, David tells us that we ARE to wait patiently for the LORD to help.  Further, David cried out to the Lord – just like Peter wrote: “Cast all your care on Him, for He cares for you.”  (1 Peter 5:7)

This verse then says – after we’ve cried out to the Lord – to expect that HE will help as He promised. And others… seeing that help from the Lord, from watching how you react, and how you live… “will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.”

Prayer: LORD, I do want to be a conduit for others to come to know You and to put their trust in You.  Help me to live a life that honors You.  Amen.
