Day  33 | TRUST IN THE LORD
TRUST IN THE LORD

Psalm 115:9-11
“O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.”

Bible scholars see this Psalm as one sung by the Jews during their Passover celebrations.  Thus, it might well have been sung by Jesus and the disciples during “the last supper” in the upper room.  (Matthew 26:30 – “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.”)

The psalmist here is encouraging his listeners to not just “trust the LORD” but to “trust IN the LORD.”  This goes beyond believing God is trustworthy.  It means coming to the place where one is willing to put his/her TRUST (confidence and reliance) IN the LORD and not in ourselves or someone else.

I’ve found – as have many throughout the centuries – that TRUST, like FAITH, can be developed, and given the right ingredients, it will GROW.

Haven’t you felt lacking in faith from time to time in your walk with the LORD?  Oh, you hadn’t lost your faith in Christ; it’s just that your faith has taken a beating from the world, bad news, and attitudes critical to Almighty God by those who don’t fear Him.

Know this… YOU are on the winning side!  I feel sorry for those who have NO FEAR of our Lord.  For those who take HIM for granted.  They need Christ.

You and I need to focus on the LORD and His WORD and to meditate on both.

Prayer: Lord, You are almighty. You are all-knowing. You are everywhere present.  You are the truth. You are love and so much more!  Help me make a difference as I demonstrate what trusting IN the Lord is all about. Amen.
