Day 10 | WHO DO YOU TRUST?
WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Prov 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
(NKJV)

This verse is one of the most famous verses in the Bible.

There is a part of us that WANTS to be guided by the almighty, all-knowing God of the universe.  People may not SAY that, yet all desire that their lives and paths are straight, successful, and good… something only God can do flawlessly.

In Matthew 7:11, Jesus tells us that God the Father wants to give good gifts to His children.
So, what does it take to receive that right and good direction from our loving, all-knowing Creator God?

First, you must “TRUST in the LORD with all your heart.”  “Trust” (in Hebrew) gives us the picture of throwing yourself down on the ground, face-down, like a servant waiting for the master’s command, ready to obey.  Doing this is not automatic; it takes practice and commitment.

“Lean not on your own understanding,”
is difficult for many… especially the self-reliant or “self-made.” But we must put away our preconceived ideas and plans and LISTEN for God’s guidance.  Yes, the Lord has given us a sound mind, but sometimes, we must give HIM priority.

“In all your ways acknowledge Him.” We need to invite the Lord into every area of our everyday life and conduct.  We need to do this every day and in every way.

“And He shall direct your paths.” This is the Lord’s response to those who trust Him in the ways explained in the phrases above.  Some may hesitate to do things God’s way – especially if they have lived most of their lives doing it their own way.

One great preacher from the past said: “The measure in which I have trusted Jehovah and acknowledged Him has been the measure of walking in the paths of real life.”

Prayer: LORD God, I believe that You know way more than I do and know what is best for me.  I trust You and acknowledge You.  Please direct my paths.  Amen.
