40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 20 | YOU HAVE A FULL-TIME HELPER
YOU HAVE A FULL-TIME HELPER

John 14:16-17
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.”

Everybody needs help from time to time.  Everyone has times of doubts, experiences times of weakness, and needs some support and strengthening from time to time.

Don’t miss this fantastic news: If you are Born-again, a Believer, a Follower of Jesus, a Christian, a Child of God (all interchangeable titles), then YOU have the Holy Spirit – God Himself – living inside of you, 24/7, right NOW.

Here in John 14, after the “Last Supper,” Jesus is telling his disciples that the Holy Spirit would remain WITH them and later (after Jesus ascends back to heaven) come to live IN them.   His purpose – as the Amplified version elaborates – is to be our Helper (when we need help), our Advocate (like a lawyer defending us), and an Intercessor (try to imagine Him praying for YOU).

Additionally, He is our Counselor (when we don’t know which way to go), our Strengthener (when we’re feeling weak) and our Standby (He’s standing right there alongside us); and this unique 24/7 Holy Spirit will be with you forever!

But remember… since the Holy Spirit is one part of GOD (Father, Son, and Spirit), He has emotions and can be grieved by the decisions we make when we ignore His gentle guidance… which is always in our best interest.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit living in me.  That is beyond my comprehension, but I’m glad that you have provided Him for me to help me day to day live my life in a way that is pleasing to You, which is in my own best interest too!  Amen.
