40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 19| YOU, GOD, AND MONEY
YOU, GOD, AND MONEY

Deuteronomy 8:18
“But you are to remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
(NASB)

Do you have any money in your bank account? My guess is yes, right? How did you get that? A gift? An inheritance? Or did you earn it working at a job or career?

When our kids were little, my wife and I tried to train them to say “Thank You” after getting a gift from a grandparent or aunt or friend of the family or someone. When they were little, we’d prompt them by saying, “What do you say?”  And then a “tank-ewe” would be said by the toddler. Our children were learning!

Few things are more annoying than ingratitude, as everyone I know likes to be appreciated for gifts given.

Have you ever considered that God is like that too? We are made in His image, so I figure if we have emotions, our God does too. (It’s evident in Scripture that He does!)

So, we come to this verse in Deuteronomy.

I think we often don’t appreciate God’s providential hand in our lives… the opening and closing of doors, helping us get and keep jobs, and so forth. Too often – especially perhaps here in America – people think, “I am a self-made man,” or like that song of years ago, “I Did It My Way.” Our Lord God probably shakes His head at our lack of understanding and appreciation of all He has done for us and how it is His hand that gives us what we need to earn money in business or a job.

Let us always REMEMBER and be THANKFUL to our Lord God for giving us the power and the ability to have a career or a job and earn money.

Prayer: Lord, thank YOU for all you have done in my life and have promised to continue to do as I walk with You day by day. Amen.
