40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 14 | YOUR BODY – GOD’S TEMPLE
YOUR BODY – GOD’S TEMPLE

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”
 (NASB)

Have you ever bought something that was – if you are honest –a bit too expensive for you? Yet, whether a car or a house or a boat or a ring, you just had to have it, so you bought it. I’ll bet you took care of it, protected it, and valued it highly.

How many different churches, temples, and religious buildings have you seen? Probably a ton, right? All different sizes and shapes and colors and designs. The variety is fantastic… huge, tiny, in-between sizes, white, brown, blue, and multi-colored.

Now consider this, no building, no jewelry, no car, no vacation has more variety than the nearly 7.8 billion human bodies currently on the planet. Even within the Church, there is terrific variety (big-C meaning ALL Christians everywhere).

But one thing we Christians have in common is that each of our physical bodies is – in God’s eyes – a Temple of God the Holy Spirit who lives inside of each Believer. And this temple cost God something, something extraordinary, something personal. It cost him the life of his only begotten Son, Jesus.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to take residence inside of us. And that’s a GOOD thing, as there He can guide, comfort, correct, and provide for us. Yet many Believers do not treat their bodies as a TEMPLE of God. They abuse them with too much of this or that or not enough of this or that.

We should all re-read today’s verses and start treating our physical bodies for what they are: a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for not treating the physical body you provided for me with more care and appreciation. Help me always to remember that my body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. Amen.
