Day 3 | ARE YOU ROYALTY? | John 1:11-13
ARE YOU ROYALTY?
John 1:11-13
“He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” (NLT)
Have you ever considered what it must be like to be royalty? Someone who is born into the “royal family” and thus afforded special recognition and consideration and all else that goes with being royalty?
The dictionary says that the term “royal family” refers to a king or queen’s immediate family leading a monarchy. In 2021, there were 26 monarchies in the world: 12 of which are in Europe including England… of which you are probably most familiar.
I’ve shared this to get us ready for the import of these verses today.
John begins by telling us that the Jews – Jesus’ “own people” (Jesus was a Jew) – did not rush to Him as the Messiah when He came to earth. Now, some eventually DID believe, but not at first.
Then John shares something VERY personal for you and me… “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
That CAN include ANYONE on planet earth – including you and me.
Ponder that. YOU and I can become “children of God” and thus royalty! But unlike human princes or princesses, we can become God’s children “not with a physical birth… but a birth that comes from God.”
What’s our part? To BELIEVE in Jesus as God’s Son and accept Him as our Savior and LORD of our lives.
This is THE reason why God’s Son – Jesus – came to earth; so that WE might become CHILDREN OF GOD.
Prayer: LORD, it is beyond my understanding that the reason you came earth was to give me (and everyone) an opportunity to become YOUR CHILD. I do BELIEVE in You and I ACCEPT YOU as my Lord, my Savior, my Redeemer and my God. Amen.
