Day 12 | FEAR NOT | Isaiah 43:2
FEAR NOT

Isaiah 43:2
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Many Bible scholars have counted and found some 365 "fear not" statements in the Bible. Although I haven't counted them myself, I'll accept that the Lord clearly wants His children NOT to be afraid… and that is another way of saying, "Be at PEACE."

Peace and Fear – can't exist in one's mind or heart at the same time.

So here, the prophet Isaiah is sharing what the Holy Spirit shared with him, which are REASONS to be at peace (or to "fear not"). This is written to God's children and is a fantastic promise to them – and to us – to remember that we have been redeemed, summoned, and belong to the LORD.

One of my favorite verses is John 1:12… "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." So, IF you are a child of God, then this verse in Isaiah is for you too!

The LORD says that when tough times come, when the floods and the waters come, that God will not let them conquer us because HE will be with us.  When the flames of life are burning, WE “will not be burned.” God will not allow the fire to set us ablaze.

In other words, we can have PEACE because of what the LORD has promised here.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for supplying a way for me NOT to be afraid.  I am one of your children, and I am thankful that you have offered to protect me.  Help me to live in PEACE because of all You do and have done for me. Amen.
