Day 8 | WAITING FOR THE LORD | Isaiah 40:31
WAITING FOR THE LORD

Isaiah 40:31
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Everyone I know seems VERY busy today.  Whether they’ve got a job, kids, or just a full calendar… everyone is busy.  Sometimes we seem like a wind-up toy monkey that plays the cymbals and, after a while, runs down and stops.

It’s just the human condition.

But then… God, Almighty – all-knowing, all-loving God – provides a rest-stop.  Like charging a cell phone, God gives us a place to “plugin” and recharge too.

However… He doesn’t FORCE us to renew our strength. Instead, He offers it to us.  Like a wise parent who knows when her child is tired and needing a rest, our LORD God offers us a way to recharge.

We just need to WAIT.  But this is not a passive thing.  One translation uses the word TRUST.  Sometimes reading in a couple of different translations can help.

Here’s one – “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”

Another says: “But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired.”

I take comfort in this verse because I, too, need my strength renewed. And, as always, our gracious LORD provides a way!

Prayer: THANK You, Lord, for providing a way for me to renew my strength.  In YOU, I put my trust and my hope. Amen.
