MAKING MONEY

Deuteronomy 8:18
"But you are to remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."

(NASB)

Much of life, it seems, is about “going to work.” And we do that in our society to earn an income to pay the bills, provide housing, put food on the table, raise our families, and save for the future.

But few – even Believers – seem to pause and consider this verse and what it teaches about wealth.  We know that money is essential, but we often disassociate money from the Word of God even though the Bible has MUCH to say about money.

Human nature is a weird thing.  For instance, most would probably pray fervently if they were in financial hardship. They would ask the LORD for help finding a job or getting a raise, or finding another income source if they were hurting. Then, they would PRAISE God when He comes through, and something opens.

BUT, often, when things are going well and there is money left at the end of the month, there is no praise to the LORD.

We need to remember the PROMISE that GOD IS OUR SOURCE.  Here are some examples:
James 1:17 – “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
Deuteronomy 28:12 (MSG) – “God will throw open the doors of his sky vaults….”
Philippians 4:19 (AMPC) – “And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
1 Chronicles 29:12 – “Wealth and honor come from you alone….”

There are many more, but you get the idea.  NEVER forget that the LORD God is the One who has given you the “power to make wealth” so that you might become what He wants you to be… a part of His eternal purpose in building His Kingdom.

Prayer: LORD, forgive me for ALL the times I patted myself on the back for doing well financially.  YOU are the reason. YOU are my God.  YOU are my Source.  I praise You and thank You. Amen.
