40 Days of Promise
Day 38 | With All Your Heart | Jeremiah 29:13
WITH ALL YOUR HEART

Jeremiah 29:13
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

Did you ever play hide-and-go-seek as a kid?  Remember figuring out all the GOOD places to hide from your brothers or sisters or friends who were playing? Of course, the goal of that game was NOT to be found!

The LORD spoke the words in this verse today to His people through the prophet Jeremiah.  The situation then was difficult for the children of Israel, but the Lord wanted them to know that He was still near AND could be found.  Unlike the hide-and-seek games we played as children, our LORD wants to be found by us.

And yet, this promise – like so many other promises of the Bible – is conditional.

The Lord promises not to hide from His people.  He wants to have a relationship with each of us but… God is God.  He is the Almighty.  He deserves to be treated with the respect due Him.
I think of that familiar verse in Proverbs 1:7 – "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." This is real fear, but in the sense of awe, worship, and reverence.

If I had a meeting scheduled with the President of the United States – whoever he might be at that time – I would not enter the Oval Office and say, "How you doin' Prez?" I would dress right, act right, and speak respectfully.

When we seek God, we need to remember WHO HE IS and approach Him with awe and wonder and seek Him with ALL our heart.  Then, we will find Him and can talk with Him and listen to His voice.

Prayer: LORD, I do honor You, and I am thankful that You know me and care about me and want to spend time with me.  Help me always to seek You with ALL my heart. Amen.
