Day 27 | Our Intercessor | Romans 8:34
Our Intercessor
Romans 8:34
“Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

When you were a kid, did you ever break something?  You know maybe a lamp or a dish or a window, a toy or something?  And you knew your parents were going to be upset when they saw what you broke. BUT, fortunately for you, you had a grandparent there who saw what happened and, even though it was your fault, helped you clean up the mess.  So, when your parents came back home and noticed what was broken before they could get upset, your grandparent interceded for you, explained the whole thing, offered to pay for it, AND reminded their child (one of your parents) of something THEY had broken when your age.  You got you off the hook!

That’s a practical story to help you understand this verse from Romans, which tells us the great PROMISE that WE have an intercessor too, and his name is Jesus Christ.
The reality is we ARE all guilty (“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”  Romans 3:23) and thus deserve punishment.  However, once we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, there are FOUR reasons we can never be found guilty: Christ’s death on the cross for us; His resurrection from the dead; His exalted position (right hand of the Father); and finally Jesus’ continual intercession for us.

It is an excellent PROMISE of God that Jesus Christ Himself, sitting at the Right Hand of the Father, is interceding for us.

Prayer: LORD, thank YOU for being my intercessor. And not mine only, but also for every Believer in the world.  Help me live every day in a way pleasing to You but thank You for being there for me when I miss the mark.  Amen.
