BLESSED (Part 4)
Psalm 1:2
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law, he meditates day and night.”
The Blessed man or woman of God DOES verse 2: “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law, he meditates day and night.”
Two relevant verses from Psalm 119 include:
Ps 119:105 – “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Ps 119:11 – “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
In Joshua, God also promises prosperity and success gained by meditating on the Word of God…
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
And WHY do you suppose God promised Joshua, the writers of the Psalms, and ALL OF US who read and will meditate on His Word, blessings? Because God’s Word is “alive and powerful,” because God honors HIS Word and because God loves us, is way wiser than we are, and truly WANTS to bless us.
Prayer: LORD, help me to spend more time meditating and pondering Your Word. I do desire Your blessings, of course, but also know that reading, meditating on, and being a doer of Your Word is critical to my well-being. Amen.
