Day 22 | BLESSED (Part 2) | Psalm 1:1b
BLESSED (Part 2)
Psalm 1:1b
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners”

The person who wants God’s blessing must NOT do certain things.  Yesterday, in Part 1, I discussed “…walks not in the counsel of the ungodly”

Now consider: “Nor stands in the paths of sinners.”

Sinners – those who perpetually care nothing for God nor care about receiving His forgiveness – have paths they take and places where they stand or hang out.

For instance, every large city has streets that would be foolish for you or me to walk down in the middle of the night.

Likewise, there are paths (or streets) that MAY look good at the start but subtly devolve into a bad place.

I was also pondering Matthew 7:13-14… “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Putting this together with the beginning of Psalm 1:1, my takeaway is that, again, we must be discerning and careful with whom we spend our time.   We may discover that the path to hanging with the wrong people is an easy one to find and to follow. But God is teaching us that that we must LOOK before we follow and then… choose the narrow gate.

Prayer: LORD, help me to avoid the wrong paths in life.  Help me to choose wisely. Amen.
