BLESSED (Part 1)
Psalm 1:1a
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly”
Throughout the Scripture and indeed here in Psalm 1, the LORD is identifying a path which – if taken – will lead the man or woman of God to a life characterized by fruitfulness, vitality, and prosperity.
But, as with many promises of God, those results are conditional.
WE must do something, and then the LORD will do something.
Psalm 1:1 (NLT) says: “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked”
As I pondered, I thought that NO believer I know would consciously go find a crook, a murderer, or some other “bad guy” and ask him for advice. BUT then, those same folks will watch the NEWS every day without knowing anything about the character, priorities, or beliefs of the people writing, editing, or delivering that news. Most people have NO IDEA of the SPIN or TWISTING they may be hearing from that station to which they are listening.
The potential for ungodly manipulation holds for all types of communications, including print, music, social media, lectures, schools, etc. So, be on alert and DON’T inadvertently follow the advice or counsel of the ungodly.
Prayer: LORD, I do want Your blessing upon my life. Help me better discern among all the sources I have for news and opinions and focus on seeking the truth. Ultimately, YOU and Your WORD ARE TRUTH. Help me filter everything else through that. Amen.
