Day 17 | The Lasting Covenant | Psalm 105:7-8
The Lasting Covenant
Psalm 105:7-8
“He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations.”

Let’s face it, we ALL tend to forget things.  Big things and little things.  And inwardly, we assume (and have experienced) that everyone else is somewhat like us in that regard too.

Then, when we think about God, many of us unconsciously believe that HE is like us too (we are made in HIS image, right?) – and that perhaps (but we would never admit this) HE might change His mind too.

Here, the Psalmist reminds us of an eternal reality – that God, the LORD God who made the universe, “REMEMBERS HIS COVENANT FOREVER.”

Covenant is another word for PROMISE.

And one example of His PROMISE to us is that one day, Jesus will return.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 give us these highlights of coming attractions:

“For the Lord, Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord.”

Now that is His covenant, His PROMISE to us.  “He remembers His covenant forever.”

Prayer: LORD, thank You for keeping ALL of your promises.  I know I fall short sometimes, but YOU are not a man. YOU are Jehovah God, and YOU keep all your covenants forever.  Amen.
