Day 15 | All Things Work Together | Romans 8:28
All Things Work Together
Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

This is one of the most familiar promises in all of the Word of God.

Can you honestly say that you have seen how ALL THINGS have worked together for YOUR good?

I often use the analogy of driving a car.  When we look through the windshield, we see what’s coming but can’t always see how things are going to turn out.  Thus, in life, we can’t see beyond about 1 minute from now and have to hope and trust the LORD that things will go well.
However, as I look in the “rear view mirror” when I’m driving, I can see clearly where I’ve been.  I can see the turns I made, cars I avoided and more.

Honestly, in life, I can usually more easily see God’s hand in my life – guiding, directing, answering and helping – looking through the “rear view mirror of my life” (where I’ve been) then I can see His hand in the immediate future.

What Paul seems to be saying in this famous verse, especially when coupled with yesterday’s devotional on Romans 8:26-27, is that because the Holy Spirit is interceding for us, “…ALL THINGS…” will work together for our good. In His providence, God orchestrates every event in life – even suffering, temptation, and sin – to accomplish both our earthly and eternal benefit.
And that’s a promise!

Prayer: LORD, thank You for working all the ups and downs in my life for my eventual benefit.  I am thankful and praise You for forgiveness, peace, Your presence and so much more. Amen.
