HELP When We NEED It
Hebrews 4:14-16
“So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.  This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (NLT)

If you wanted some help with a construction project you were starting, who would you ask? Someone who had no experience whatsoever, someone who knew someone, or someone with lots of knowledge and experience?

Of course, if you wanted a successful project, you’d chose the latter.

When we face various problems, challenges, or questions in our lives, we often talk to someone who has “been there done that.”

Something we forget is that Jesus HAS “been there and done that.”  He was tested, tried, and challenged in the same way we are.  Yes, the times and technologies have changed, but the underlying issues and concepts are the same today as they were back then.

So, God tells us here that we should come BOLDLY to His throne (in prayer) and ask away.

In Matthew 7:11, Jesus teaches, “Ask and you shall receive, Seek, and you shall find, Knock, and the door shall be opened to you.”

When we have a need and if we’ll realize that God has all the answers we we should come to Him and ask. Then we’ll receive the answers, the mercy, and the grace “to help when we need it most.

Prayer: LORD, help remind me to turn to You FIRST and not LAST. You are Jesus, the Son of God. You have experienced life here and understand it all.  You have – and will always have – all the answers I need. Amen.
