Day 35 | DAILY REJOICING
DAILY REJOICING

Psalm 118:24
“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

When we read these words, there’s a quiet invitation that reverberates through centuries: each sunrise is a fresh canvas painted by God Himself. In the midst of life’s relentless pace – work deadlines, family responsibilities, global headlines – it’s easy to let the day slip by unnoticed, merely a backdrop for our to-do lists. Yet the Psalmist reminds us that the very fabric of the day is woven by the Creator’s hand, and therefore it carries an intrinsic worth beyond our agendas.

Consider the original Hebrew word yom… a “day” that is whole, complete, and bounded. It isn’t just a 24-hour segment; it’s a purposeful unit of divine intention. When God says, “This is the day I have made,” He is affirming ownership and purpose. He didn’t merely set the clock; He infused the day with meaning, inviting us into a partnership of gratitude.

Rejoicing isn’t forced cheerfulness; it’s a posture of trust. It acknowledges that even when circumstances feel heavy, the day remains a gift, not a guarantee. The psalmist’s call to “be glad” follows the same rhythm: first recognizing God’s authorship, then responding with heartfelt joy. This sequence protects us from the trap of superficial optimism; our gladness rests on the certainty of God’s handiwork, not on fleeting emotions.

Practical steps for today:
1.  Watch a sunrise or sunset – Take a moment to thank God for the beauty, acknowledging His authorship.
2.  Name one blessing – Identify a specific aspect of the day (a meeting, a walk, a conversation) and declare it a gift.
3.  Share the joy – Extend a kind word or act to someone else, turning personal gratitude into communal encouragement.

As you move through the hours ahead, remember that each moment is a verse written by the Divine Author. Let that truth shape your attitude, and you’ll discover a deep, sustaining joy that transcends circumstance. May today be a living testimony of God’s goodness, and may your heart continually echo, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Prayer: Lord, You are amazing, and I am thankful for every day. Amen.
