Day 32 | JOY AND PEACE

JOY AND PEACE
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
You know, sometimes God still amazes me by how He has prepared us and gifted us to live well in the world today. Here is the KEY listing of the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit which we are given when we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives.
Consider today’s gifts: Joy and Peace. Does anyone NOT want those?
One prominent pastor said, “Joy is the unmistakable evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit.”
JOY is something we can CHOOSE to have… or not. God offers it to us – through the Holy Spirit – but I know people, and you do too, who seem to prefer being unhappy and non-joyful, even though they know Jesus as Savior and Lord. You see, even though the Holy Spirit lives in us (a miracle which is too great for our mortal minds to grasp fully) and in Him all the Spiritual Gifts reside, we can still “quench the Spirit” and not allow those gifts to spring out of us. And surprisingly, many Christians do just that.
Joy and Peace are KEYS to living well today in a world that is hostile to our Lord God. Yes, America may be the most “Christian nation” in the world today (so they say); even so, way too many Christians are living a life BELOW what they could be if they would just let the Holy Spirit’s gifts spring forth.
Prayer: LORD God, forgive me for the times when I quench the Spiritual Gifts in my life which You have provided me. Please help me turn that around. Amen.
