Day 30 | WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR WORRIES
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR WORRIES

1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety onto him because he cares for you.”
 (NIV)

Something we all seem to have in common is the tendency to worry. I suppose it has something to do with our God-given gift of imagination, as sometimes we imagine the worst outcome in a situation.

I like the definition of worry I learned years ago: “Worry is the negative use of your God-given gift of imagination.”

In today’s verse, written by the Apostle Peter, we are encouraged to CAST, which means to transfer something to someone else purposely.

And not just some, but ALL of your worries or anxieties… all the fears, stresses, and uncertainties which can weigh us down and cause us all kinds of problems: Fear, doubt, worry, sleepless nights, high blood pressure, being emotionally drained, and more.

But then Peter tells us WHERE to cast those fears, doubts, and worries: to God, to Christ. And why? Because HE CARES ABOUT YOU.   Jesus is our Savior.

The Greek for “because He cares for you,” indicates a personal, ongoing concern. Our God is not distant; He actively looks after each of His children.

Now this verse isn’t a “magic fix,” meaning all problems will always vanish instantly. Instead, it offers a relational trust in God’s care to shape the outcomes in a way that God knows will ultimately be for our good.

Consider this verse as an invitation to SHIFT the weight of worry from your shoulders onto a caring, trustworthy Lord who LOVES you so much that He made it possible for you and me to become one of His children.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for being willing and more than able to take all that I cast on You, and deal with them appropriately, as You see fit and as You, my Father, knows best. Amen.
