Day 28 | THE SOURCE

THE SOURCE
Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
I have a friend who leads a ministry that focuses on serving those in need in other countries. One of the significant things that his mission group does is build water wells in Malawi, Africa, and they've been doing that for many years. Why? Because water is essential for life, and Malawi NEEDS the wells to get water.
When they finish building a well, they rejoice and praise the Lord, and the well becomes a welcome and vital SOURCE for the community. People leave their homes, make a beeline for the well, get their water, and then return home.
This got me thinking. I'm guessing that if you're reading (or listening) to this, you didn't have to go to a well with water jugs to fill up; it was probably much easier for you. Yet, before this devotional, you probably gave NO thought to your water supply… you turn on the faucet and clean water comes.
Sometimes, we take our relationship with the Lord for granted as well. We know He's with us wherever we go; we believe He knows all things, is everywhere present, and is all-powerful. We know that God loves us, and we know that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again so that we might have life and have it to the full. But perhaps we don’t think about it enough.
Today's verse – a familiar one to most – reminds me, and should remind all of us, that Christ is our SOURCE: for strength, for wisdom, for comfort, for guidance, and so much more. Like the Malawi folks go regularly to their source for water, WE need to go to our Source for life abundant and strength.
Prayer: LORD, I praise You for being my Source for everything I need in this life. Amen.
