Day 24 | MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE

Psalm 100:1-2
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come into His presence with singing!”
(KJV)

Every Sunday, churches around the world lead their congregations in SINGING joyfully to the Lord. One contemporary version of these verses says: “On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence.” (MSG)

When we gather together to worship the Lord each week, it should be an uplifting time of praise and singing S the Lord. And as I have reminded our church from time to time: NOT being a good singer is no excuse not to make a joyful NOISE!

Let me ask… do YOU sing each week in church, or do you just tolerate the music and wish it were over so you could hear the message and go home?

Interestingly, we sing many places outside of church… in the shower, at baseball games, sometimes at weddings or funerals, at rock concerts, and on and on. BUT, when it comes to singing at church, many just don’t.

Whenever God’s Word says something like this, it’s helpful to remember that the LORD never asks us to do anything that is not for OUR benefit… and for HIS glory.

Spurgeon said: “The original word signifies a glad shout, such as loyal subjects give when their king appears among them. Our happy God should be worshipped by a happy people; a cheerful spirit is in keeping with his nature, his acts, and the gratitude which we should cherish for his mercies.”

Next Sunday, keep that in mind and – if you’re grateful to the Lord – show Him by worshipping and singing to Him joyfully!

Prayer: Lord, You deserve ALL my praise – help me show You that all week long. Amen.
