Day 15 | THE GOD OF HOPE

THE GOD OF HOPE
Romans 15:13
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NIV)
Have you noticed how emotional people can get? We get emotional at weddings, sporting events, memorial services, graduations, gatherings of family and friends, and on and on. And children, wow, they can display a wide range of emotions in a minute! Laughter, tears, excitement, disappointment, anger, happiness… the list goes on.
The fact is that people have emotions. My question is: WHERE did those emotions come from? Why do we have such a wide variety of emotions? Answer: Our Creator God. And since He made us in His image, we have emotions because God has emotions.
We don’t think often of God having emotions. Yet, here in Romans, Paul is reminding the church in Rome (and us too) that God is the “God of Hope.” He is the Source of hope, as well as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control… the nine FRUIT of God the Holy Spirit. God has emotions!
Are you FILLED with JOY and PEACE and HOPE as Paul was teaching here to the church at Rome? Do you see the KEY to being filled that way? “As you trust in Him.”
Have you ever been zip-lining? Well, one thing that is absolutely necessary for zip lining is that after you’ve gotten outfitted with a helmet and all, then strapped to the zip line, you’ve got to TRUST the zip line and LET GO.
So today, let go… Trust God. He knows YOU, He knows your situation, He loves you and has a plan.
Prayer: LORD, I do trust You with my salvation, my eternal life, and my life here and now. Amen.
