Day 14 | REJOICING IN THE LORD
REJOICING IN THE LORD

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (ESV)

For anyone who has attended my church over the past couple of years, they KNOW this verse. We all quote it together most Sunday mornings as I start my message.  What a fantastic verse! What a great verse to say throughout the week!

And one of the things I often say is: “To rejoice is a choice!”

No matter how bad things get at a particular time, we CAN and we SHOULD rejoice.

Consider a few examples:
1. God is on the throne.
2. Jesus has paid the price on the cross for our sins to be forgiven.
3. In Christ we have eternal life.
4. We are invited to come boldly to God’s throne and talk to Him in prayer.
(You get the idea, right?)

And notice that ALL of these things – and tons more – are true regardless of our circumstances at the moment.

The Apostle Paul indeed demonstrated this and wrote several of his letters, also known as “epistles,” while in jail! I think of that story of Paul and Silas in jail for preaching the Gospel… not only were they able to pray, they also they broke out in singing to the LORD!

How’s your day going TODAY? Going great? Fabulous – read or quote today’s verse and thank the LORD!

Your day NOT going well? Same prescription: Read today’s verse, thank the LORD for all He has done for you, and rejoice in Him! Then, lift your requests to Him! I find praising first (and remembering His answers to prayer and blessings) helps increase my FAITH regarding the prayers that I lift to Him.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for ALL the blessings You have poured out on me. Help me to celebrate that and praise You every day. Amen.
