WE ARE BLESSED
Numbers 6:24-26
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
How are you feeling today?
That may seem like a random question, but whether we FEEL like it or not at a particular moment, WE – who are in Christ – ARE BLESSED.
Today's Scripture is the famous “Aaronic Blessing,” which the Lord gave to Moses to give to Aaron for the priests to use in blessing God's people.
Consider what it meant to them – AND what it means to YOU – to have the Lord's blessing.
"The LORD bless you" – God wants leaders who long for the people to be blessed, without which, nothing works out right.
"And keep you" – ensuring life and peace and guidance.
"The LORD make His face to shine upon you" – knowing that the Lord is well pleased with you.
Charles Spurgeon said: "Why should he fret when God smiles? What matters, though all the world should censure, if Jehovah countenances his servant. A look of approval from God creates a deep, delightful calm within the soul."
“And be gracious to you.” – God shows His tender mercy and care for His people.
“The LORD lift up His countenance upon you” – The Lord promises to watch us, to look upon us, to pay attention and look favorably.
“And give you peace.” – Something everyone wants… shalom, the peace that passes all understanding.
Jesus echoed this in John 10:10 – "I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly."
One more observation: the phrases “the LORD … the LORD … the LORD” may also hint at the Trinity.
Prayer: Lord God, I am so very thankful for ALL You offer me in Jesus Christ. Thank You for this incredible blessing, which I now receive by faith. Amen.
